[Forward to a Friend]

Did I imagine this?
I borrowed an LP from a friend a few years back and heard a great tune that I haven't heard since and no one seems to know anything about. I believe it's called "Gettin' Tight" by the Masters of the Universe. I've contacted my favorite local DJ(who never misses)and he drew a blank. I know I heard it on that LP but have heard nothing about it since. Would love to get a hold of a copy of it. Can anyone help?

I did a brief search and could not pull up anything. If your friend is still around, he would be the quickest source for finding the information.

Do you recall about what time period the album was from?

Do you remember any other songs on the album?

Now that I got my head out of that dark place, it seems that the group was the "Masters of Reality", not the "Masters of the Universe".(Note to self: Stop playing with kid's toys.) That didn't solve the mystery though. There was a 80's-90's band of that name (which had Ginger Baker in it for a time) and they released a tune called Gettin' High. But that's not the tune I'm looking for. I've got that one and it's definitely not it. I'm 99% sure of the title of the song and I'll know it if I hear it. I'm thinking it was in the late70's,early 80's time frame. It was the mid-80's when I heard it on an LP that had seen better days. Great tune. A real rocker with blistering guitar work.

Shep,

Where did you get the song (Gettin' High) you have? Did you download it or did you buy the record or CD?

One time I solved a song question and I was sure of the answer and the girl insisted my answer was wrong. It turned out that her computer was messed up and was somehow playing the wrong song with the right song title.

Let's make sure you downloaded the correct song. It should sound the same as the sample below. Click on the link below to hear 'Gettin High' by Masters of Reality

As far as the year goes, I just solved a song question for a person that thought her song was from 1985 or 1987. It turned out the song was released in 1989. Think about when you first heard the song. Try to think of events at that time or maybe another song that was popular. It's really important to nail down the year.

Lastly, do you recall any of the lyrics to the song?

I don't know if this will help or not, but there was a FILM called "Master's Of The Universe." Could you have heard the soundtrack album?

Also, some else mentioned a band that Ginger Baker played in back in the 80's/90's. Baker did play in a band which had a song called "Master's Of The Universe," (although he didn't play on the track -- it was issued years before) ... the band was HAWKWIND.

I had a friend that was looking for this as well--turns out the band's name was actually 'Masters of the Airwaves' and you can download the album from www.megaupload.com free (you need to register)

Masters of the airwaves was released in 1974 by epic records. to my knowledge they only released this one album. Getting Tight was one of the songs along with In it for the thrill, I believe in God, light up the heavens, Anna king jamaica, squeeze me positive, Highway to hell( supposedly about the Texas chainsaw massacre), and getting tight. band members were Jimmy Berick -16 string guitar, Jon Flak-lead vocals, Randy Rand- bass, and David Rada- drums....were one of my favorite bands because of the 16 string guitar...awesome sound. pretty sure no copies are out there....best of luck finding one...
